The owner of a newly-imported Russian Mi-2 helicopter has had his aircraft grounded at California’s Hayward Airport while the FAA looks into allegations that he flew it without an Airworthiness Certificate and without locally-required insurance documents. Officials in Oakland, California, where pilot Thierry Thys was based, asked him for the documents, but when he couldn’t produce them and later flew the Mi-2 to nearby Hayward , the FAA was notified. The pilot was not injured, and damage to the aircraft was relatively minor. The jet’s right wing tip struck the runway and started a small fire on the wing, which then started a grass fire at the airport. The aircraft suffered an unknown amount of damage. Both occupants were fatally injured, one of whom was the aircraft owner. The pilots were flying from Georgia to New Mexico, where the owner lived. The Government of Nigeria has ordered the sale of over out-of-service and abandoned aircraft from around that country. It is not known what aircraft types are involved, but since at least some of the aircraft are rumored to have been dormant for many years, warbird- and vintage-aircraft collectors are scrambling to research the matter. The reporter was riding along as part of an interview he was conducting for a story on the pilot.

So exasperated by the unreliability of the hourly TransPennine Express services to and from Scarborough, she logged all the reasons — some would say excuses — proffered over a recent two-week period. By her own admission, Mrs Toker is fortunate. She primarily uses the train from Scarborough, where she lives, to visit friends and family. And she, like so many, now leaves an hour earlier if she wants to be confident of catching a connecting train at York, never mind reaching her final destination on time.
All the shops closed, and an estimated 15, spectators watched the first train arrive in the town. Built by the Victorians, the long platforms were deliberately designed for the long steam-powered services taking tourists to and from the iconic resort.

Filed under Pagadian City The Philippines, being a country archipelago of islands and seas, have naturally wonderful beaches, some of which are famous the world over. Beaches like Puerto Galera, Boracay, and the various beaches in Cebu rake in tourists from around the world all year round because of their pristine and cool blue waters and fine, white-sand shores. However, if one will just look around more, they will find that there are other less-known but equally beautiful beach spots in other parts of the Philippines.
In Pagadian, in particular, there are beaches and islands that will make one believe that there is such a thing as a secluded paradise on Earth. A nice place to start would be the Dao-Dao Islands some seven to ten minutes away from the seaport, when riding a motorboat. It is a rather big island, with an area size of about 1. The coral reefs are artificially made, but the whole place is very much ideal for swimming, fishing, and boating.
During low tides, a smaller, more undeveloped island appears and like the rest, is also suitable for fishing and swimming.

Each township has its stream which flows into Bedale Beck and so into the Swale. Bedale has been a market town since and probably has not altered much in form. The principal part of the town is built along the sides of a wide straight street which forms the market-place. Near the northern end a narrow street crosses the main street, and here there is a tall and slender stepped cross, the head of which has been replaced in iron.
Northward is the church standing among a group of elms, with the rectory and some 18th-century houses on the west. The town extends on the north and west sides, but in recent years the development has been chiefly to the south along the Ripon Road and on the slope east of the station, where a road runs east to Northallerton.

That’s according to Halifax’s annual Quality of Life survey. The survey takes into account factors such as residents’ health and life expectancy, wellbeing, earnings, employment, crime rates and weather. Stratford-upon-Avon Stratford is a haven for tourists, with its beautiful river location, great shops and restaurants, and, of course, Shakespearean heritage.
Rugby is perhaps often overlooked against its wealthier fellow Warwickshire towns but clearly has much to offer in terms of quality of living.

They failed to persuade Fulham Football Club to adopt the ground as their home after a dispute over the rent, so Mears considered selling to the Great Western Railway Company, who wanted to use the land as a coal-dumping yard. There is an unconfirmed story regarding the incident that claims Mears was on the verge of selling, and was being persuaded by his colleague Fred Parker not to, when Mears’ scotch terrier bit Parker on the leg. Parker took the incident in good spirit so Mears, impressed by this, decided to take his colleague’s advice and found a new football club to play at Stamford Bridge.

Celtic tribes[ edit ] Early inhabitants of Yorkshire were Celts , who formed two separate tribes, the Brigantes and the Parisi. The tribe controlled most of Northern England and more territory than any other Celtic tribe in England. That they had the Yorkshire area as their heartland is evident in that Isurium Brigantum now known as Aldborough was the capital town of their civitas under Roman rule.
Six of the nine Brigantian poleis described by Claudius Ptolemaeus in the Geographia fall within the historic county. Initially, this situation suited both the Romans and the Brigantes, who were known as the most militant tribe in Britain. Queen Cartimandua left her husband Venutius for his armour bearer, Vellocatus , setting off a chain of events which changed control of the Yorkshire area.
Cartimandua, due to her good relationship with the Romans, was able to keep control of the kingdom; however, her former husband staged rebellions against her and her Roman allies. This saw his son Constantine the Great , who became renowned for his contributions to Christianity, proclaimed emperor in the city.
By this stage, the Western Empire was in intermittent decline. The area which this kingdom covered included most of Southern Northumbria, roughly equivalent to the borders of Yorkshire extending further West.
